Viking Twist Mini Hoop

These one-of-a-kind earrings feature a rope twist motif accented with a line of hand-placed granulation. The rope motif is inspired by the adventurous 10th-century Vikings who explored the world by sea. These elegant hoops are perfect for daily wear.   

An ancient goldsmithing technique where tiny spheres of gold are hand placed on a jewel to form textures or patterns. Granulation dates back at least 5,000 years to the Sumerians and has been found in cultures all over the world including in Greek, Etruscan, and Viking jewelry. Once the spheres are placed, the final step requires fusing the balls to the surface, a tricky process that can result in failure of the entire piece. Loren Teetelli has mastered the notoriously difficult technique, and her granulation designs have a rich, silken texture.
