The Gemini and Taurus designs of the Zodiac collection are shaped by the rich visual language of Minoan culture.
The Bees of Malia pendant, an iconic example of ancient Minoan goldwork, that captivated me long before becoming a jeweler, sparked the initial idea for Gemini with its balanced design and symbolic focus on duality, nature and regeneration.
The design for my Taurus pendant began with the Mesopotamian bull lyres, a favorite object from my time as an archaeologist, that I admire for its bold form and striking material contrasts. I also drew on Minoan sources, including sculpture, the enduring myth of the Minotaur and the impressive archaeological site of the Palace of Knossos. The vivid frescoes found there, especially the dynamic bull-leaping scene, inspired movement in the lines of my design. These layered references speak to Taurus’s steadfast strength, connection to the earth and quiet elegance.
The result are modern pieces grounded in the power of ancient design.
